Combatting the stereotype that queer women are more into adopting cats together than getting down and dirty, the dating app HER has launched ‘Thirst Mode’ for Pride month.
Each day of June, HER will be giving users 60-minutes of unlimited likes, the ability to see who has liked them, and the chance to spotlight their profile.
The app, which describes itself as being for FLINTAs (Female, lesbian, intersex, trans, agender) – found in a recent survey that 40% of users “are ideally hoping to hook up with a friend at Pride”. And Thirst Mode is here to help that dream become a reality.
Best of all, Thirst Mode is completely free all throughout Pride month because, according to HER; ‘celebrating Pride shouldn’t cost us gays money!!!’
“Companies are out here ‘celebrating’ queerness by charging an arm and a leg for mass-produced merch and lame events. It’s giving gatekeep, it’s giving tacky, it’s giving not-our-style,” says HER.
The app’s ‘State of Thirst’ survey also found that Gen X were among its horniest users, with 50% saying their “ideal Pride hookup is a threesome or group sex”. Meanwhile, Gen Z were the least interested in hookups, continuing the trend of Gen Z being less interested in sex overall.
While hookups are definitely popular among FLINTAs, HER’s survey revealed that we’re also a bit of a clingy bunch (whuuuut), with 30% saying they’d prefer to hookup with someone regularly.
Thirst Mode is only free throughout June, after which it’ll cost users $5.99 a month. So get swiping, babes.
